Posted Date: 11/24/2017 12:15 PM

Bus on summer day

Grande Prairie transit riders will receive extended Sunday service, beginning on Dec. 3.

Transit operations are being extended by two hours on Sundays to 6:45 p.m. The last bus will now leave Prairie Mall at 6:05 p.m. and Towne Centre Mall at 6:15 p.m. on that day.

“Expanded Sunday hours is a priority for riders and we’re delighted to respond to this need,” says Steve Harvard, Assistant Transit Manager. “The Transit Master Plan highlighted the adjustment as a key step in enhancing service and Council recognized its importance when it recently adopted the document.”

Routes 1 to 6 are in service on Sundays. Transit operations on Sunday begin at 9 a.m.

Background

The Transit Master Plan will help guide the development and growth of conventional transit services in Grande Prairie.

It addresses all aspects of the City’s transit service including routings, stop locations, service levels, fares, as well as the associated supporting infrastructure. It identifies ways to make the current system more efficient, effective, and user friendly in an effort to improve active transportation in the City.

The Plan provides a vision for transit service in Grande Prairie through to 2026.
