Grant Funding Opportunity for Downtown Businesses
Posted Date: 3/12/2018

The next intake for Façade Improvement Grant applications for downtown businesses opens April 9th.

The grant offers up to $50,000 in funding to downtown building owners and tenants making improvements to the fronts of their buildings.  Upgrades that enhance aesthetic appeal, pedestrian access and public safety will be considered.Downtown Incentives Social Media Graphics

The Façade Improvement grant is one of four funding opportunities within the Downtown Incentives Program.  The Urban Residential Grant offers per unit grants for mixed-use or multi-unit residential developments, the Patio Grant allows downtown businesses to develop outdoor patio spaces through cost matching and the Demolition Grant helps property owners with the removal of underutilized buildings.

Through the first two rounds of funding $929,072 was awarded to 26 downtown façade improvement projects.  Examples can be seen in upgrades to Marlin Travel, Laurel’s Peace Country Preserves, Better Than Fred’s, Earl’s Kitchen & Bar and the Shepherd’s Fold among others.

Façade Improvement Grant applications will be accepted between April 9th and May 7th, 2018.  Early applications are encouraged, as submissions will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
