Volunteer Registrations Open for Annual City Scrub
Posted Date: 4/11/2018

Volunteers are being recruited for the 12th annual City Scrub, taking place from April 22 to 30, 2018.

The City Scrub is a community clean-up that occurs each spring. The goal of the weeklong, city-wide, initiative is to pick-up garbage and litter that has collected over the winter months.

Last year, over 8000 volunteers participated in the event coordinated by the City’s Energy Management and Environmental Services Department. The volunteers came from schools, community groups, neighbourhood associations, businesses and individual registrations.

“Due to the number of volunteers who participate in City Scrub, as little as 20 minutes makes a big impact on cleaning our city” said Jessica Foley, Environmental Outreach Specialist for the City. “It’s been a long winter, and we are hopeful enough snow will be melted in time for volunteers to collect litter.”

How to Volunteer
Individual volunteers and groups can take part in the event by registering at Once registered, groups can pick up garbage bags and disposable gloves at one of the nine locations across the city.
