Grande Prairies Receives National Recognition for Alberta Culture Days 2017

The Grande Prairie Museum has received recognition for an Award of Outstanding Achievement in Marketing from the Canadian Museum Association. 


The award recognizes the collaborative marketing efforts taken by the Grande Prairie Museum for the Alberta Culture Days 2017. This included partnerships and collaborations with The Centre for Creative Arts and the Grande Prairie Public Library for everything from print and digital marketing to room rentals and funding applications. Alberta Culture Days- 2017 passport


“The 2017 Alberta Culture Days event was the finale in the City’s Canada 150 events. Cultural groups and residents from across Grande Prairie participated in the celebratory weekend as participants or as performers,” says Karen McGriskin, Sports Development, Wellness and Culture manager.


“We are very proud to have received this award for the marketing campaign led by our Marketing and Development Coordinator, Robin White, and look forward to hosting the upcoming 2018 Alberta Culture Days.”


Events held at the Montrose Cultural Centre for Alberta Culture Days included: 
Mamawe Concourse Grand Opening
School of Fish painting workshop by the Grande Prairie Regional College
Live Art Demonstration and Textile program by the Grande Prairie Museums programming staff
Opening reception for the Lyndal Osborne exhibition and Printmaking Party at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie
Alberta Culture Days trade show and performances by the Grande Prairie Public Library
Country Dance Lessons from the Peace Country Dance Association 
Orange Shirt Day on the Mamawe Concourse  
Homemade Market Pop-Up sale 


It was one of five major events that took place last year to commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.
