Muskoseepi Park Re-opens
Posted Date: 5/2/2018
Muskoseepi Park, including the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion and Grande Prairie Museum, have been re-opened to regular operations.

Water levels in the Bear Creek remain high and residents are urged to remain on asphalt trails within the park as it will take several days to complete a detailed inspection of the entire Bear Creek corridor. Vital infrastructure downstream was protected due to the continuous efforts to monitor the Bear Creek corridor.

“A large evacuation of Muskoseepi Park was completed in record time, while City staff managed the flash water flows passing through the spillway,” said Horacio Galanti, Director of Infrastructure and Protective Services. “The public was kept informed and safe, the dam was preserved from spilling over and the downstream infrastructure was maintained with minimal damage.”

The Bear Creek Reservoir will continue to be monitored for several days until water levels are balanced.

A flash flood on Saturday night forced the evacuation and closure of Muskoseepi Park with an activation of the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership’s Emergency Co-ordination Centre.
