New Grande Prairie Immigration Website Launched
Posted Date: 6/7/2018

An online tool for new immigrants and people looking to immigrate to Grande Prairie was launched by the City of Grande Prairie today.

GPImmigration.ca is a new website that is designed to be a digital guide for all newcomers, specifically people who have recently immigrated or are thinking about immigrating to Canada and settling in Grande Prairie. It provides specific information on the local community and how to get connected as a newcomer.

Three main service areas are covered by the website: Living, Learning and Working.  These service areas provide a local guide to everything from housing and medical information, to schooling and finding employment, to recreational opportunities and community groups.  A comprehensive resource directory for community businesses and organizations is also available on the website.GPLIP Image

The website translates into over 25 different languages.

“The goal of creating this website was to create a portal to support newcomers immigrating to Canada, and specifically connect them to services and resources that already exist within Grande Prairie. It really acts as an online directory so people can look up the topics they want more information on, and learn who to contact directly in the community” says Blair Wade, Communications Advisor.

The website is made possible through the Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership which works locally to support Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada by developing community-based planning around the needs of newcomers.
