City Council Highlights- September 24, 2018

Here are the highlights from the City Council meeting on September 24, 2018:

Bylaw C-1260-92- Land Use Bylaw Amendment

Council gave third reading to Bylaw C-1260-92 Amendment to DC-13 District to Accommodate Commercial Storage.


This land use bylaw amendment is in reference to the property at 10715 92 Street. It allows for the removal of RV storage use and the placement of shipping containers to create a commercial storage facility.

Council added the additional section that any Development Permit issued for Commercial Storage here shall include limits for hours of customer access, requirements for the shipping containers to be of a uniform appearance including height and colour, and restrictions on the type of goods that may be stored at the facility.

Appointment of Deputy Mayor- October 1- October 22, 2018 

Council appointed Dylan Bressey as Deputy Mayor for the period of October 1- October 22, 2018.

Economic Development Advisory Committee Terms of Reference

Council approved the Terms of Reference for the Economic Development Advisory and Strategic Planning Committee.


The Terms of Reference provide guidelines to increase the overall opportunities within the business environment of the City of Grande Prairie.

The role of this committee is to provide an effective link between Management, Council and the business community.

Request for Transportation Offsite Levy Reserve Funding - Traffic Signals Upgrade at 84 Avenue and 116 Street 

Council allocated $60,000 from the Transportation System Levy Reserve to fund the installation of the final set of traffic signals (west leg) at the intersection of 84 Avenue and 116 Street.
The upgrade is related to the residential development known as Kensington Phase 1, located west of 116 Street between the railway line and 76 Avenue.
