CN Rail to Install Rail Crossing Gates on 116 Avenue, Results in Full Road Closure and Detours to Transit Routes 1, 3, and 5

Traffic on 116 Avenue between 99 Street and 96 Street will be detoured to 108 Avenue beginning the morning of Friday, November 2.

The road is expected to re-open on November 5. The closure is to accommodate the installation of rail crossing gates and upgrade the signals at this location.

Traffic Detour Route
  • No west or east bound traffic will be permitted. 
  • East bound traffic will be detoured right on to 99 Street to 108 Avenue. 
  • West bound traffic will be detoured left on 96 Street to 108 Avenue.

In addition, pedestrian access may be restricted across the railway tracks.

Major Transit Route 1, 3, and 5 Detours

Route 1 will maintain service to its regular route, with the exception of stop #M8 on 116 Avenue and 99 Street, but will be experiencing detours. At the intersection of 116 Avenue and 96 Street, the bus will turn right onto 116 Avenue, left onto Lakeland Drive, left on 121 Avenue, left on Crystal Ridge Road/97 Street, left on 116 Avenue , right on 92 Street and will resume its regular route. Bus stops #146, 144, 140 and 136 will be serviced from the opposite side of the street. Stops along this route are anticipated to experience delays due to this detour. 


Detour Route

 

Route 3 maintains its regular route, however bus stops #344, 346, 350, 352 will be serviced 5-10 minutes earlier than normal due to detours.

Route 5 maintains its regular route with a detour around the road closure. At the intersection of 116 Avenue and 97 Street, the bus will turn left on 116 Avenue, right on 96 Street, right on 108 Avenue, right on 98 Street and then proceed to Prairie Mall to continue on the regular route.
