City Council Discontinues Municipal Government Board Appeal of the Correction Line West Area Structure Plan
Posted Date: 11/5/2018
Council has discontinued the Municipal Government Board Appeal of the Correction Line West Area Structure Plan.

“At our November 5, 2018 City of Grande Prairie Council meeting, Council passed a motion to discontinue the Municipal Government Board Appeal of the Correction Line West Area Structure Plan. In the coming year, the City and County will begin developing updated land use planning and delivery of service agreements as required by provincial legislation. Getting to the work of an updated Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) and the development of an Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) is in the best interest of our region. Discontinuing this appeal allows us to focus our energy on delivering a comprehensive framework for the delivery and funding of services that benefits all our residents.”

- Mayor Bill Given

The Correction Line West Area Structure Plan was previously adopted by the County of Grande Prairie. It covers two and a half quarter sections, is approximately 162 hectares in size and is located south-west of the City of Grande Prairie adjacent to the Correction Line Road/ Township Road 710.

On Tuesday, August 14th, 2018 the City submitted its Notice of Appeal to the Municipal Government Board (MGB). Council has the ability to discontinue the Municipal Government Board Appeal at any point in the process.

The City and County are initiating Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework discussions with the assistance of a provincial facilitator on December 11, 2018.

Council directed Administration to take the necessary steps to discontinue the Municipal Government Board Appeal of the Correction Line West Area Structure Plan.
