City Council Awards $4,349,685 in Community Group Funding
Posted Date: 12/19/2018

$4,349,685 was awarded by City Council to 35 different community groups today through Community Group Funding.

The funding represents an increase from the original amount approved during budget deliberations. Today’s discussion focused on the value these community groups provide and therefore Council decided to increase the pool of funds available.   City Council continues to be committed to delivering an overall tax decrease for 2019. Surplus funds from 2018 will be used so as not to impact the planned tax decrease.

“The Community Group funding is a partnership between the City of Grande Prairie and local groups and agencies that provides immense value for our whole community. Through this funding we’re able to support community groups so they can use their expertise and knowledge to provide programs and services that meet our community’s needs and benefit the quality of life for all of our residents,” says Mayor Bill Given.
