 Area Structure Plan (ASP)

  • is a statutory plan whose primary intent is to demonstrate how future development in new areas will link to the City's existing developed area
  • guides the preparation of more detailed Outline Plans (OP's) 

Area Redevelopments Plan (ARP)

  • is a statutory plan formulated to provide guidelines for the growth, development and redevelopment of existing neighbourhoods
  • contains policies pertaining retention of neighbourhood character, design guidelines and streetscape enhancement

Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP)

  • is a statutory plan formulated and adopted by both the City of Grande Prairie and the County of Grande Prairie No. 1
  • its primary intent is to coordinate land use compatibility, economic development and servicing and transportation issues between the two municipalities 

Municipal Development Plan (MDP)

  • is a statutory plan
  • primary intent is to provide a broad framework for the land use, growth and development of the City over the next 20 to 25 years
  • provides the policy basis for Area Structure Plans (ASP's), Outline Plans (OP's), Area Redevelopment Plans (ARP's) and the Land Use Bylaw (LUB)

Land Use Bylaw (LUB)

  • the primary intent of this bylaw is to regulate the use and development of all land and buildings within the boundaries of the City

Outline Plans (OP)

  •  Prior to September 2011, OP's were non statutory plans required by the City subsequent to the adoption of an ASP which address land use and servicing issues in greater detail than in the ASP.  Since September 19, 2011, all existing and future Outline Plans will be adopted as bylaws which are statutory documents
  • The preparation of the OP is the responsibility of the land owners and/or developer of the land in question
