Strategic Plan

City Council’s Strategic Plan describes the City's overall vision, mission, and focus areas. Department business plans tie into this overall strategic plan by identifying the department’s role in it as well as the actions/resources required to accomplish it.

The performance management process involves the role of each employee in accomplishing both the department business plan as well as the overall strategic plan. Our work matters to the citizens of Grande Prairie and by positively contributing to the community we call home, we all make a difference.

Performance Management boils down to good communication which is required for high morale, quality work and excellent customer service.

It involves:

  • Ensuring employees understand what is expected of them
  • Both employees and supervisors reviewing work and progress throughout the year
  • The opportunity to talk about successes and challenges
  • Two-way formal and informal feedback
  • Discussion and documentation of career aspirations/training needs
