Entrance FeatureThe Grande Prairie cemetery celebrates all cultures, religions and traditions. Our commitment is to care for families and friends forever. We encourage the use of our cemetery not only for remembrance but for activities like walking, enjoying nature or historical research.

Spring cleanup and removal of out of season items starts in April as soon as the snow allows. Out of season items are removed usually within the first two weeks after the holiday or celebration.

Landscaping and seeding of graves starts in May and continues throughout the summer.

If you wish to install a monument in the cemetery, please complete a monument permit (PDF, 675 KB) and submit it to Parks Operations, along with the applicable fee.

Funeral Processions in Grande Prairie

Funeral processions are common on Grande Prairie’s busy roads. Do you know what the proper protocol is for a procession?

Alberta Transportation has developed guidelines for the courteous and respectful treatment of funeral procession:

  • If you are in a funeral procession, you may follow the procession through a stop sign or red light without stopping as long as your headlights are on, you are following directly behind the vehicle ahead in the procession, and it is safe to do so.
  • If you encounter a funeral procession, do not pass through it. Please yield the right-of-way, including through intersections and crossing roads, until it has passed.
