About UsService Centre Image

Development Permitting is responsible for administering the City of Grande Prairie’s Land Use Bylaw. The co-ordination and review of all development applications and proposals to ensure compliance with the Land Use Bylaw achieves this.

Our goal is to foster a positive public attitude towards planning and development, by incorporating "customer first initiatives". As a department we strive to create a forum between the City of Grande Prairie and its clients who have a stake in the land development process.

Development Permit Application Forms

To obtain a development permit you must first complete the appropriate Development Permit Application Forms. Each form is specific to a type of development and has different requirements.

Enforcement of the City of Grande Prairie Land Use Bylaw

As part of administering the City of Grande Prairie's Land Use Bylaw, Development Permitting enforces bylaw infractions, and acts on development related concerns/complaints from the general public.

Our Team

We are under the direction of Infrastructure and Protective Services, and consist of:

Development Officers: As Development Authorities, who are appointed to exercise development powers and duties on behalf of the City of Grande Prairie, they are responsible for reviewing and deciding on all major/minor development applications. They are also responsible for compliance of the land use bylaw through Education and Enforcement.

Development Assistants: Assist the department with the development permit process.

We also work closely with the other branches of Planning and Development  to ensure Grande Prairie develops into the " Greatest Place To Be":

Planning
Inspection Services
Engineering Services
