Serve Your Community by Volunteering for a Board, Committee or Commission

The City of Grande Prairie invites you to serve on one of our Boards, Committees or Commissions. As a representative, you will assist in municipal operations through research and decision making on current issues.

What do Boards, Committees and Commission do?

Boards, Committees and Commission review material, weigh alternatives, and make recommendations to Council. Council is then able to make more informed decisions while substantially expediting the decision-making process.

Some Boards, Committees and Commissions may also fill a quasi-judicial role, which means that the Committee has the authority to make decisions and judgments as provided for in the Municipal Government Act.
At the City of Grande Prairie, representatives from the public to various Boards, Committees and Commissions are appointed by Council from a pool of applicants. Some Boards, Committees and Commissions are of an "internal operational" nature and therefore do not include public members. 

Available Public Member Appointments

There are 36 vacancies for public members on City of Grande Prairie Boards, Committees and Commissions. In order to qualify, you must be a resident of the Grande Prairie region, at least 18 years of age and be willing to meet the time commitments of the particular board for which you are interested.

Terms of Appointments

Members will be appointed to a Board or Committee for a term of three (3) years ending December 31, 2020, with the following exceptions:

Economic Development Advisory Committee – Terms are reviewed annually;
Revolution Place Advisory Board – Terms are two (2) years ending December 31, 2019.

DROP it off at the City Hall, 10205 - 98 Street. When entering City Hall, go to the Customer Service counter, to the right and ask for the Legislative Services.
