Keynote Speaker Announced for “Women of Influence” Awards Reception and Luncheon

Councillor Eunice Friesen is joining the “Women of Influence” Awards Reception and Luncheon as keynote speaker on March 8, International Women’s Day.

“With her diverse accomplishments and experience in community involvement, Councillor Friesen is an outstanding example of a women of influence in Grande Prairie, and we are so honoured to welcome her as keynote”, says Angela Sutherland, Community Social Development Manager.

Councillor Friesen is humbled by the opportunity, “It is such a privilege to be chosen for this event. I consider myself to be an ordinary individual, but because of the many transformative women in my life I’ve been empowered to make a difference in the lives of those around me and in the city of Grande Prairie.”

“This is a fantastic occasion to honour and support local women who are change-makers in their own unique ways, and I look forward to seeing all the wonderful nominees and recipients.”

Time: 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

Location: Teresa Sargent Hall, Montrose Cultural Centre

Cost: $30 (Tickets available at the Community Social Development office- 10030 102 Ave.)

Everyone in the community is invited to attend as we honour local women who have helped shape Grande Prairie into a vibrant and diverse city.

How to Nominate

Three awards are available: Young Woman of Influence, Trailblazing Woman of Influence and Distinguished Woman of Influence.

Nominees must demonstrate unique and influential achievements in making social change in the community.

Deadline to submit nominations is Friday, February 2, 2018.

About the Awards

The “Women Of Influence” Awards aim to recognize and celebrate local women who have made positive social change in the community. It ties into the 2018 International Women’s Day theme which is “Press for Progress,” a call-to-action for communities to take shared responsibility for promoting equality and diversity.
