Storm Sewer Repairs Begin Today
Posted Date: 8/10/2018
On Friday, August 10, Storm Sewer Repairs begin throughout the City, weather permitting. The repairs will continue for the month of August as part of the 2018 Storm Line Rehabilitation Program.

Work will be done on:
  1. 100 Street between 90 Avenue and 91 Avenue (scheduled to begin August 10);
  2. 108 Street, south of 89 Avenue (scheduled to begin August 14);
  3. 107 Avenue at 101 Street (scheduled to begin August 17);
  4. 105 Street south of 98 Avenue at the railroad tracks (scheduled to begin August 19);
  5. Centre 2000 along walking trails (scheduled to begin August 21);
  6. 104 Avenue at 96 Street (scheduled to begin August 21);
  7. Poplar Drive at 70 Avenue (scheduled to begin August 27); and
  8. 96 Avenue at 110 Street (Scheduled to begin August 27).
All work is expected to occur during daytime work hours (8:00 am to 7:00 pm) Monday to Saturday. There will be a reduction in the speed limit to 30km/h for the construction zone and motorists and pedestrians are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible.

Detours will be in place for all major construction sites to ensure that a safe working zone can be established. Sites with minor repairs will see speed reductions and lane closures.

The construction consists of excavating the road to the storm sewer and replacing the damaged portion of the storm sewer. Once this is complete crews will replace the excavated section of roadway and complete all associated road work, concrete work and minor landscaping.

Access to businesses and residents will be maintained throughout the project; however, the use of detours may be necessary. A full road closure is expected at 105 Street and will be coordinated with local businesses and scheduled for a Sunday.

The start date of each location is weather dependent. Updates on each location will be posted to the City’s official twitter and Facebook pages. For more information on Capital Construction projects, please visit:
