Pet Preparedness

Understand what your pet's needs are, and plan accordingly.

Planning must be completed before an event occurs. Plan to take your pets with you - do not leave them behind. Because pets are not usually permitted in public Evacuation Centres, plan to have them go to a family friend or neighbour's home or to a "pet friendly" hotel.

Prepare a "Pet Kit" with the following contents:
  • Pet food and sufficient water
  • Medication
  • Copy of vaccination record and other pertinent documentation
  • Kennel
  • Make sure dog tags are attached to collar
