Canada Day Events Schedule

Muskoseepi Park is the focal point for Canada Day festivities.

 

Events get underway on June 30 at 8 p.m. at the Muskoseepi Park Amphitheatre, featuring various entertainers followed by fireworks at midnight over the Reservoir and a midnight swim at Bear Creek outdoor pool from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.

 

The Golden Age Centre launches Canada Day July 1, with a pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m. The cost is $3.

 

The parade begins at 1:00 p.m., leaving from Hillside School, running along 100 Avenue and finishing in Grande Prairie Regional College’s parking lot A.

 

Opening ceremonies take place at Muskoseepi Park at 2:30 p.m. and festivities continue throughout the day, ending at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to the park to enjoy a piece of Canada Day cake provided by the Grande Prairie Co-op. Other activities include a dunk tank, face painting, balloon animals, temporary tattoos, inflatable bouncers, the Trojan safety fire truck, and various community displays and children’s activities.

 

Numerous performers will take to the stage at the Amphitheatre for the enjoyment of spectators of all ages for the duration of the celebration.

 

The Peace Starts at Home Concert is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday nights beginning at 6:00 p.m. featuring artists ranging from the Corb Lund Band to several local talents. Tickets are available at the Crystal Centre or Muskoseepi Park Pavilion.

 

There is no public parking in Muskoseepi Park during the Canada Day festivities. A free Park n’ Ride will be provided leaving from parking lot A at the College with drop-offs at Muskoseepi Park and Centre 2000.
