City and County to Host 2010 Alberta Peace Officer Conference

The County and City of Grande Prairie are hosting the Alberta Association of Community Peace Officers annual conference January 31st to February 4th at the Grande Prairie Inn.

 

This year's conference has the theme of "Bringing it North." It reflects the first time this conference has been held north of the capital region.

 

The annual conference promotes training and continuing education. Topics include impaired driving, investigative detention, unsightly premises, officer safety, incident command, commercial vehicle legislation, media relations, STARS, search and rescue, verbal first aid, RCMP police dog service and leadership under stress. “We are proud to co‐host law enforcement officers from across Alberta,” stated County Manager of Enforcement Services Stuart Rempel. “This training illustrates our ongoing commitment to interagency cooperation and ensuring our officers have the most up to date training available.”

 

The Alberta Association of Community Peace Officer’s was formed in 1989 and today represents approximately 200 Level 1 Peace Officers across the province.
