City Council declared April 25 as World Malaria Day in Grande Prairie

A cheque was presented to the Red Cross for their Malaria Bites campaign to help prevent malaria around the world.


Mayor Dwight Logan declared April 25 as World Malaria Day in Grande Prairie. Joining him, from left, were Michelle Kardino, Community Development Co-ordinator with the Canadian Red Cross, Central and Northern Alberta Region, Ken Loudon, President of the Swan City Rotary Club, and Ald. Dan Wong, Club Past President.  During the proclamation ceremony, the Rotary Club presented a cheque for $1,016 for the Red Cross’s Malaria Bites campaign. The funds will be used to purchase and distribute nets that have been sprayed with insect repellent.
