Further South Montrose Site Input Invited

Residents unable to attend Wednesday’s open house to provide feedback on the draft amendment to the Montrose Section of the Downtown Enhancement Plan can still share input with City Planning Staff directly.

Further revisions will be discussed at the next meeting of the South Montrose Site Steering Committee on Monday.

The amendment outlines a plan for the southern portion of the former Montrose School site, south of the Montrose Cultural Centre – the new Library/Gallery facility.

“We thank everyone who participated in the session and hope anyone else who has an interest in development on the site can contact us with their ideas so we can incorporate additional thoughts into the next draft,” says City Planner Rachelle Dillon.  “It is important that this development proceed with strong community support. We were pleased with the amount and quality of comments received.”

Further input can be forwarded to Dillon at rdillon@cityofgp.com or 780-538-0434.

The draft can be found on the City of Grande Prairie’s website at cityofgp.com as a spotlight item. The draft recommends space for a town square along with room for one or two future cultural facilities. It also includes a 30-metre landscaped area south of the new cultural centre to accommodate the greenway proposed in the Downtown Enhancement Plan.
