Multiplex Progress just a Click Away
Residents who want to keep track of progress on the Aquatics and Wellness Multiplex need to go no further than the City of Grande Prairie’s website –cityofgp.com
Two webcams have been installed to track progress and images are updated hourly. Click on the left hand side of the page on the image of the Multiplex.
One of the cameras faces the southeast section of the facility, overlooking the 54-metre pool area. The other captures activity in the field house section.
“The installation of steel is under way and the facility is now 20 per cent complete,” says Felix Seiler, Manager of Recreation and Community Development. “Excitement for this venue continues to build so we are pleased to offer residents the opportunity to monitor activity at the site.”
Seiler says by capturing images several times per day, a movie will be produced when the project is complete showing how the building evolved.
The Multiplex is due for completion in July 2011.
It will be part of the Community Knowledge Campus (CKC) and connect to the Coca-Cola Centre, the Gymniks building and St. Joseph High School at 68th Ave. and Wapiti Road.
Features include a 54-metre pool, a 25-metre program pool, a Flow Rider surfing attraction, a water park, water slides, including an adventure river feature, springboard diving, four squash/racquetball courts, a multipurpose field house, a fitness area, a restaurant, a running track and several leasable spaces suitable for retail, food services, or other paramedical practitioners. The RCMP will have an office location in the facility.
