City Submits York Hotel Bid

The City of Grande Prairie will tender an offer of $1.1 million to purchase the York Hotel.

Council voted today to pursue acquiring the downtown property, which is subject to a court-ordered process. It is located at 10012-101 Street and was built in 1948.

Proceedings to determine the successful bidder have begun.

Council has entered the proceedings to consolidate property in the downtown core. The goal is to guide future development on the hotel site and adjacent to the former Germain Park location on 100 Ave.

The City is exploring various options for use of the hotel site. No definite plans have been made.
