The City of Grande Prairie advises motorists that a four-phase roadway improvement project may cause delays over the next two months in the 68th Ave. and 90th/92nd Street area by Countryside subdivision.

The initiatives will impact traffic flow for drivers travelling east of Resources Road and West of 90^th/92^nd Street.

Phase 1 sees paving, gutter and curb work occurring on 68^th Avenue between 92 Street and Resources Road. The focal point of the work will be in the intersection and the north side of the road. Traffic flow will continue using the existing two lanes.

Phase 2 involves drainage work down the north side of 68^th Avenue, east of 92^nd Street.

Phase 3 will see construction done on the transition on the access lane east out of 90^th Street onto 68^th Avenue, and  an acceleration lane being completed off Resources Road east onto 68^th Avenue in preparation for 68^th Avenue being doubled.

Phase 4 sees the median between the west and east bound traffic being completed, and installation of rail crossing warning system lights and bells at the CN tracks.

“We thank motorists for their patience as this work proceeds,” says Steve Kay, Project Engineer. “These enhancements are part of the eventual double laning of 68^th Avenue as it has become a major east-west route.”
