The Sensational Hot Rods Will Rock Homecoming With A Tribute To The 50's Dance

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 7:52:00 AM

Get ready to rock’n roll, Grande Prairie!

The Sensational Hot Rods will have you wanting to dance the night away at Saturday’s Homecoming 50s Barbecue and Dance at the Crystal Centre.

“This high-energy band playing 1950s rock’n roll music is the perfect way to help Grande Prairie celebrate its 50th anniversary as a City,” says Lois Harper, Manager of Recreation and Culture. “We want to make Homecoming Weekend a memorable, fun event and this band will be a terrific highlight.”

Dance goers can expect five-piece doo wop harmonies, delivered with dance moves that will make it hard to stay off the dance floor.

The band combines hit music from the fabulous 50s with its own originals. It has released four CDs to date and appeared with The Platters, Colin James, Nazareth, Prism, Dr. Hook, Harlequin, and The Stampeders. The 50s rockers also toured as Bobby Curtola's show band for three years.

”If you are a fan of those timeless classics, you will absolutely love what we have in store,” says Band leader Steve Clark. “We perform tributes to Elvis, The Everly Brothers and other great acts such as Jay & The Americans, the Platters, Ritchie Valens, Chubby Checker, Buddy Holly, Bobby Darin, Bill Haley, the Beach Boys, the Drifters, and much, much more,” he says.

“The band has put so much emphasis on sounding and emulating the acts of that Rock'n Roll era that it will actually bring you back to a special place in your life and bring back memories. For those who weren’t born yet, we will make you feel like you were there.”

Tickets for the barbecue and dance are still available at the Crystal Centre Box Office.  Call 780-538-0387 or purchase tickets online at muniportal.ca
