A Section 299 Request for Information is a required request form when an owner or agent is seeking confidential property information on how the assessor prepared the current assessment on that person’s property pursuant to Section 299 of the Municipal Government Act (Note: Only one owner per request is allowed). 

A Current Year Assessment Detail Report Request is a required request form from an owner who is seeking non confidential information about a property regarding how the assessor prepared the current assessment. The Current Assessment Detail Report includes the following information;
•             a description of the parcel of land and any improvements
•             size of the parcel of land
•             the age and size of  any improvements
•             the key attributes of any improvements to the parcel of land.
•             the assessed value and any adjustments to the assessed value of the parcel of land

Information in respect of a person’s property includes all documents, records, and other information in respect of that property that the assessor has in the assessor’s possession or under the assessor’s control. Also any information on key factors, components and variable of the valuation model applied in preparing the assessment of the property. Studies used to derive the assessed values or information not relating to this property will not be provided.

This information is available for a fee as determined by the Assessment Department. The Assessment Department will contact you with an estimated cost which must be agreed upon before the form is accepted.
