Ornamental crabapple tree in Jubilee Park

Trees are a crucial part of our urban landscape. They provide many benefits, from environmental (improving air quality and sequestering carbon), to economic (improving home value and energy use reduction), to social (reduce stress and provide food).

It takes a long time to grow a tree to maturity in our northern climate, so large trees are very valuable. Parks Operations is committed to providing residents with a variety of beautiful, healthy trees to enjoy.

The City of Grande Prairie's tree population is one of the many assets that make it a wonderful place to live. We give them the best opportunity to thrive by choosing the right tree for each location and providing basic care. Parks staff maintain almost 25,000 trees and 500 shrub beds on public lands across Grande Prairie.
