The City of Grande Prairie’s capital investments continue this construction season with the 2019 outfall and storm line repair program as well as the 2019 storm line flushing program.

In the Mission Heights neighbourhood, crews are currently undertaking storm line flushing. The operation is important to remove debris and inspect the City’s storm sewers to ensure the storm system is in proper working order, reducing the likelihood of damage to property.

Residents will see crews accessing storm lines in City easements. The lines may run through the City easement at the front of a property, or a property may back onto the City easement where the storm sewer line runs.

In Avondale, beginning on Thursday, October 10, crews will be replacing the storm catch basin located on the south side of 108 Avenue and 105 Street near the Muskoseepi Park trail. The work includes upsizing the outfall pipe and installing a new outfall structure.

Motorists can expect lane closures and a potential road closure later in October. Pedestrians may have limited access through the area and are reminded to exercise caution when using the trails and sidewalk.

This work in both neighbourhoods is expected to be complete by the end of October. Questions from the public may be directed to Engineering Services at 780-538-0417.
