Here are the highlights from the City Council meeting held on December 2, 2019:

Delegations

The County of Grande Prairie attended in regards to 2019 payment as part of the revenue sharing agreement between the City and the County.

The Grande Prairie and District Pipes and Drums presented to thank the City for the granting support they received for the World Pipe Band Championships which they participated in earlier this year in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Grande Prairie Catholic School Board presented regarding traffic safety along 132 Avenue.

Fire Automatic Aid Agreement

Council approved the Fire Automatic Aid Agreement subject to the approval of a final Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) package with the County.

Redevelopment of Park Hotel Site

The City of Grande Prairie has reached an agreement with the developer to demolish the former Park Hotel and create an improved business opportunity at the site.

2020 Business Improvement Area Budget Review

Council will review and approve the 2020 Business Improvement Area (BIA) Budget at the Council Meeting on Monday, March 9, 2020. Administration has been directed to notify businesses within the BIA of the above date as well as the proposed 2020 BIA budget.

Bylaw C-1299A – Amendment to the Procedure Bylaw, Bylaw C-1323C – Amendment to the Subdivision Authority Bylaw and Bylaw C-1388A – Amendment to the City Administration Bylaw

Council approved amendments to the Procedure Bylaw, Subdivision Authority Bylaw and City Administration Bylaw.

Danielle Whiteway was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Grande Prairie.

Arlene Karbashewski was appointed as the City Clerk for the City of Grande Prairie.

Bylaw 1260-114 - Amendment to the Land Use Bylaw and Bylaw C-1395B - Amendment to the Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw

Council approved amendments to the Land Use Bylaw and the Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw. The amendments will reduce regulatory barriers and fees related to retail cannabis outlets and cannabis production facilities.
