City of Grande Prairie Enforcement Services has introduced the use of a 4-person bike unit for summer patrols.

The unit will patrol all neighbourhoods in Grande Prairie, with an emphasis on patrolling the Downtown Core, Muskoseepi Park, recreation areas such as South Bear Creek and events if they can occur later this summer. The unit will also focus on engaging with the population experiencing homelessness throughout the summer months.

“Last summer, we focused on increasing the number of foot patrols, which successfully led to the ability to be out in the community and develop a strong point of connection with all residents,” said Sgt. Kelly Kokesch, Program Manager, Enforcement Services, City of Grande Prairie. “The bike patrols are a natural expansion of this program and we anticipate it to foster a positive and visible connection with Grande Prairie residents.”

The 4-person bike unit will begin patrols in mid-May and continue until the end of August.
