Persons showing either Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) National card or who receive Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) can ride for free, companion will have to pay the appropriate transit fare.
AISH Passes for the upcoming month are available AFTER the 15th day of the current month (e.g. to apply for a January pass, apply after December 15th.) Passes are available at ONE LOCATION ONLY - Cashier, First Floor, Grande Prairie City Hall, 10205 - 98 Street, open 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You must present the following information to receive a pass: your name, Medical Services Card number, and one other type of identification.
Yes, all buses are wheelchair accessible.
Transit drivers will offer the following assistance, lower the bus, extend the ramp, lift the seat and assist with securing the belt. You will have to manoeuvre your chair and use the securement systems. If you require extra assistance we advise to travel with a companion - the companion will have to pay the appropriate transit fare.
Only small fur-bearing and feathered pets contained in secure, clean, hand-held cages are permitted on the bus. Cages must be small enough to fit on the owner's lap. Passengers must hold on to their cages at all times. The cage should not block the aisle or restrict other passengers. Certified service animals are welcome on transit buses. The driver may refuse a trip if your pet poses a health or safety risk, or if it misbehaves.
If you are able, go back to the same bus stop one hour later and ask the driver to check the bus for you. Items lost on the bus will be brought in after the shift and will be accessible the next working day. If you find someone else’s property on the bus, please give it to the bus driver. We will do our best to return lost items to their rightful owners.
