The sessions are open to members of the community of all ages and experience levels.

The in-person budget engagement events are an opportunity for residents to learn about the City’s budget process and key services. Members of City administration will be available during the event to provide more information and connect with residents on any questions they may have.

Residents can share their thoughts and ideas on the following questions:

  • Where would you prioritize investment of your tax dollars in the 2022 Budget?
  • What services do you value most at the City?
  • How do you suggest the City balance the need to operate with fiscal responsibility while providing quality services?
  • What do you think Council should prioritize as part of their COVID-19 response?

Feedback is being used to guide City administration and City Council to determine the services most valued by residents.

Online engagement

The community engagement sessions are a continuation of the Budget 2022 engagement project that commenced in May with online engagement opportunities, followed by key stakeholder engagement sessions held in August.

The online portion available at engage.cityofgp.com/budget2022 has been re-opened and is available for people to provide feedback until September 30.

The online engagement includes:

  • A survey that takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
  • A Balancing Act tool to learn how the City’s operating budget is allocated and submit your own balanced City budget
  • An idea space to share your answers to brainstorming questions
  • A Q&A space to ask administration questions about the budget and get live responses

The City of Grande Prairie looks forward to engaging with residents on how we can continue to stimulate our local economic recovery and support the community.
