The City of Grande Prairie has launched a new program offering free supplies for residents to start their own indoor garden.

The goal of the program is to provide residents an opportunity to experience the benefits of gardening and to provide a free and fun activity everyone can enjoy.

To participate and receive a supply kit, residents can register online at cityofgp.perfectmind.com. When registering, participants can choose between a drive-thru pick up option or curbside delivery. Each option will follow strict physical distancing guidelines to ensure the safety of residents and City staff.

Supply kits include seeds for lettuce, tomatoes and chives, and soil pellets. Full instructions and FAQs for how to start the gardens indoors before transferring them outdoors will be emailed out to registrants.

The indoor gardening project is open to all City of Grande Prairie residents, with a limit on one supply kit per household.

The City of Grande Prairie encourages everyone to participate and to share photos of their gardens on social media using the hashtag #GPGrows.
