Bridges

Bridges and related structures are important parts of Grande Prairie’s transportation network, helping people travel safely throughout the city. These assets connect neighbourhoods, trails, parks and key destinations while supporting the movement of vehicles, pedestrians and utilities.

The City owns and maintains a diverse inventory of structures, including:

  • 10 road bridges
  • 14 pedestrian bridges
  • 10 bridge culverts
  • 3 sign structures
  • 3 timber docks

In addition, Aquatera Utilities owns and maintains two utility bridges within the city.

To keep these structures safe and reliable, the City conducts regular inspections and completes maintenance and rehabilitation work as needed. Inspection findings help identify repairs, prioritize future investments and support the long-term management of the City’s bridge assets.

The City is committed to preserving its bridges and structures to provide safe, dependable infrastructure for residents and visitors.

The City's Bridge Program is an annual program that aims to address routine maintenance, as well as additional maintenance and repairs identified during regularly scheduled bridge inspections.

A detailed list of bridges being worked on in the current year can be found here.
