Proposed bylaws about the regulation of recreational cannabis are to be brought to City Council on June 18, 2018 for further debate.

The bylaws were presented to Council at a meeting on May 22 where a series of amendments were made to the bylaws including capping the number of cannabis retail stores at ten with no more than 2 per separate business entity.

Members of the public are able to make presentations at the June 18, 2018 City Council meeting.Pending the approval of bylaw amendments at City Council on June 18, the intake period for applications is June 19 to July 6.

Those seeking to open cannabis retail locations must submit applications for a business licence and a development permit at the same time. City staff are available to assist with the completion of applications.

From all the submissions, a random order will be assigned for the review of both business licence applications and development permits.

A cannabis retail location is viable only if both the development permit and business applications are approved.
