The City of Grande Prairie looks forward to the reopening of the Grande Prairie Eastlink Centre aquatics on October 23, with a renewed commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors. However, we wish to inform the community that unforeseen repairs have caused a slight delay in the readiness of the 25m program pool.
The revised timeline for the 25m program pool to be fully operational is November 6, pending the receipt of water sample results. The delay is attributed to necessary repairs of the 50m competition pool that were identified when the pool was drained, with contractor resources being reallocated to address these maintenance issues. Historically, the 50m competition pool is drained on a 5-year cycle, and this presented an ideal opportunity to ensure the basin is in excellent condition.
The City is committed to adhering to Alberta Health Services pool standards and conducting rigorous water quality checks to guarantee the safety of all visitors.
For impacted programs beginning on October 23, we want to assure you that all programs will be relocated within the aquatics area. Families with children registered in these programs will receive a call from our team to confirm the details of the relocated activities. All registered programs originally planned for the 50m competition pool will proceed as scheduled.
Shallow water aquatics fitness classes will resume when the 25m program pool reopens in November. A modified aquatics fitness schedule can be found online.
