Delegations

  • Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities presented to council about their successes and challenges over the course of the past 18-months, the presentation was received for information.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Grande Prairie presented to council to share information about their organization and current work in the community, the presentation was received for information.
  • The South Peace Regional Archives presented to council about relocation planning to the lower level of Centre 2000 in 2023 and to request for $150,058 in Community Group Funding capital funds and operational funding in the amount of $105,800 in 2022 and $129,765 in 2023, the presentation was received for information.

Correspondence

City Council received a letter from Inclusion Grande Prairie thanking the City for their support in the development of a Family Resource Centre in our community. This Family Resource Centre is a pathway to help families pursue their dream for their children living with a developmental disability to live an enriched and inclusive life in schools and in the community.

Licence to Occupy City Land - Peace Airshed Zone Association (PAZA)

City Council approved a 25-year term for a licence to occupy agreement between the City and the Peace Airshed Zone Association for the Henry Pirker Monitoring Station within Muskoseepi Park. PAZA is a non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization that conducts ambient air quality monitoring in the Grande Prairie Region. They have operated in Muskoseepi Park since 2004.

Standing Committee/Board Member Updates

Council updated the standing committee list and board member appointments until October 2021.

Economic Recovery Program - Dining with Dignity

City Council allocated $5000 from the Economic Recovery Capital Budget as a grant to the Swan City Rotary Club and the Grande Prairie Chamber for the Dining with Dignity Campaign. The funds requested will be used to purchase gift certificates for local restaurants, to be included in food hampers distributed by the Salvation Army.

The campaign is designed to act as a cash injection into the local restaurant industry, while supporting the Salvation Army and the clients who depend on their hamper program.

Bylaw C-1299B - Amendment to the Procedure Bylaw

Council approved amendments to the procedure bylaw C-1299B that indicated 6 is the maximum number of in person meetings a councillor can miss.

Public Notices of Development Permit Decisions

City Council approved amendments to remove the requirement for advertising public notices of development permit decisions in response to the Daily Herald Tribune ceasing print publications.

Southwest ASP Amendment, Stoneridge OP Amendment, Land Use Bylaw Amendment

City Council gave two readings to the Stone Ridge Outline Plan, and associated Land Use Bylaw to facilitate the development of a future professional and medical office building.
